"Develop and design intentional learning activities suitable for the appropriate environment and the learner"
The piece of evidence that I have chosen for this learning
outcome is the mLearning activities that I have created to use with my students
next year. For our third assignment in OLTD 508, we were asked to take some
lessons that we currently do with our students and turn them into mLearning
assignments.
This was great for looking at all of our options and I am really excited to be offering mLearning assignments in my P.E. courses next year for any of my students who own, or have access to, a smart phone. When I went through this process I learned that there are many different ways that a student can meet the same learning outcomes doing similar or the same things as other but also incorporating a smart phone. Some of the new activities that the students can complete are geocaching (which I think will be a huge hit) and using a run tracker for all physical activity so that they don’t have to fill in a worksheet anymore (the app will do that for them).
Developing and designing intentional learning activities suitable for the appropriate environment and the learner is becoming more and more important. All students are cookie-cutter, meaning they are all different and do not think or learn in exactly the same ways as their peers. When we are able to create activities, and especially choices within the activities, we are giving them the chance to show their learning and gain new skills the way that best suits their needs.

"Create assessment and evaluation methods/tools most suitable to the strengths and challenges of online environments"
For this evidence, I chose the app rubric that my group and I
created in OLTD 502. We looked at other app rubrics that were available and
modified one to meet our needs. We can now share this rubric and use it
ourselves to check and see if certain apps that we are choosing to use with our
students are doing what we want them to do and are viable options to present in
the first place.
Creating this rubric made us really focus on what the main objectives of using an app in a classroom are and making sure we keep the focus on choosing the apps best suited for the particular need / void we are trying to fill. Once we had finished creating the rubric, we took apps that we are either currently using or are thinking about using with our students to see if their rating would be as good as we think it should be. I think that it is very important for teachers to critically think about what they are implementing with their students and not go blindly into it based on the opinion of others and this rubric helps with that.
Creating assessment and evaluation methods / tools most suitable to the strengths and challenges of online environments is a growing need. Every year technology is changing, devices are upgrading, and new devices are being unveiled. If we have a strong system to check our options with and see where they stand, that allows us to keep a level head about what we are using and have a justification for why we have decided to use it.

"Plan learning opportunities most suitable to the strengths and challenges of a variety of environments"
For this piece of evidence I have chosen my write up about my
thoughts on video games in the classroom and the role they play. This was an
assignment for the gamification part of our OLTD 508 course and it had us read
some articles and form our own opinions about the role we think video games
should, or shouldn’t, play in the classroom.
When I was writing this assignment, I was forced to look at all the different elements of games, what they are created for, what type of game they are, the principles of games and form my thoughts using the new knowledge I had received. This assignment allowed me to explore the learning that takes place in three different environments – in the classroom, in the DL classroom (my choice) and in the gaming world. My hope is that I can share this with others and allow them to have a more open mind about games in the classroom. We need to choose games that teach our students what we want them to learn, in a fun way, and experience the game enough through our own personal trials to help our students along the way.
Planning learning opportunities most suitable to the strengths and challenges of a variety of environments is something teachers have to do every day. No two days are going to be carbon copies of each other, they can’t be, not with 30+ different personalities all in the same room for 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. We as teachers need to plan for more than one opportunity to learn, as well as showcase, knowledge on a subject because not all of our students will learn the same way.
